A painting of Mary nursing the infant Jesus called the Madonna Litta. It’s displayed in the Hermitage Museum, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It’s usually thought to be by Leonardo but could have also been added to by his pupil Boltraffio. The painting was transferred from wood to canvas.
It shows a woman wearing red and blue nursing a child. The child has Leonardo's characteristic curls and is clutching a bird in it's left hand. The woman is looking down at the infant lovingly and they are both in front of two arched windows overlooking blue sky and rolling hills.
